The Acworth Arts Alliance is a nonprofit formed to support the arts through education and exhibits at the Art House and in other venues and events in our community. The Art House hosts monthly receptions, offers various workshops and rotates new exhibits about every two months.

This exhibit is our first juried show, with works selected by well-known local artist Shane McDonald. McDonald has worked as a freelance graphic designer, illustrator, and portrait artist. In 1998 he opened a commercial studio in the Artisan Resource Center in Marietta, Ga., where he paints and teaches community drawing and painting classes.  He joined the KSU staff at the School of Art and Design in 2004.

Our focus is on exhibiting the richness of talent evident in the works of local artists and in sharing those talents with art lovers and budding artists of all ages.

Classes

Community is of primary importance for the Acworth Arts Alliance. Classes are being offered by local artists and schedules are posted on this website and at the ART  HOUSE.

Our mission

The Acworth Arts Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2017 to promote and support the advancement of art and artistic education in the greater Acworth community. The AAA strives to achieve advancement of art and its culture through educational programs and the display of diverse art from many local artists. See our bylaws for more information.

As a non-profit organization, we rely on membership fees, sponsors, donations, grants, class fees, fundraisers and the help of dedicated volunteers. The City of Acworth has generously donated the space at the Art House for the Acworth Arts Alliance to use as their home for classes and art exhibits. We hope you will join us in supporting the arts!

Annual Memberships

All Memberships include our newsletter, and invitations to the Artists Reception for our exhibits.

  • Member Artist: $75

“Member Artists” receive the above and are eligible to display artwork in the Art House "Member Artist Gallery", will be included on our website, attend Brown Bag Lunch Programs, participate in the Holiday Gift Shop and may participate in teaching programs offered by the Acworth Arts Alliance.

Annual Patrons

Patrons will receive our newsletter, invitations to the Artists’ Receptions for our Exhibits, and will be recognized on our website.

Our Patrons

Acworth Arts Alliance Submission Guidelines

 

Please follow these guidelines when submitting your art for review.

  • Please submit at least three works for consideration, one image each for two-dimensional work (paintings, photographs, etc.) and no more than three images for each three-dimensional work (sculpture, ceramics, glass, etc.). Include the title, medium used, size (including frame, if framed) and price for each work.

  • Digital images can be emailed to the gallery director. Please include an artist’s statement, resume or biography.

Even after you are accepted, we reserve the right to decline any work that we feel is not appropriate for our gallery, which includes work that is improperly framed, wired or excessively large or expensive. Solo shows are by invitation only

Exhibit Guidelines if accepted:

  • All canvas work must be framed or on one-inch wrap canvas with painted sides. All two-dimensional original work must be framed (unless gallery wrap), wired, ready to hang, titled along with artists contact information and price. Please NO "sawtooth" hangers. They don't work with our hanging system.

  • Prints must be matted, in a protective sleeve, titled along with artists contact information and price. We will not hang giclee prints. They will be displayed in a print bin.

  • Three-dimensional work such as pottery, sculpture, glass, jewelry, must be labeled with price and artists name and contact info.

  • Art submissions will be featured in the gallery two to three months. It is the artist’s responsibility to rotate work at the end of the two month period.

Featured Exhibit Schedule: 2019

May 4-25: High School Student Exhibit (submission deadline: April 15) Two- and Three- Dimensional Works. Artist Reception: Saturday, May 4, 4-6 p.m.; May 5, 4-6 p.m.

June 1 - July 27: First Juried Art Exhibit. Juror: Shane McDonald (submission deadline: May 1, 2019) Two and Three Dimensional Works. Entry Fee for up to 5 images: Member-Artist- $25-, Non-Member Artist- $35-. Entry fees are non-refundable and must be paid by the submission deadline. Prizes will be awarded at the Artist Reception. Artist Reception: Saturday, June 1, 4-7 p.m. No Reception in July.

August 3- 31: Founding Members Exhibit. Submissions limited to “Founding Member Artists” (submission deadline: Monday, July 15) Artist Reception: Saturday, August 3, 4-7 p.m.

September 7- October 26: Creative Expressions Exhibit (submission deadline: Thursday, August 15) Artist Reception: Saturday, September 7, 4-7p.m. Artist Reception: Saturday, October 5, 4-7p.m.

November 2- December 21: Small Works Exhibit (submission deadline: Tuesday, October 15) Artist Reception: Saturday, November 2, 4-7p.m. Holiday Celebration: Saturday December 7, 4-7p.m.

Creative Expressions Exhibit

Deadline for submissions for this exhibit: Thursday, August 15, at midnight. This exhibit will run from September 7 thru October 26. Two and Three Dimensional Works. Maximum framed size is 30x36. Only a few pieces this large will be selected due to space limitations in the Art House.

Entering Your Images:

 -Submission form must be filled out completely. List sizes up the the nearest inch (including frame if framed). Submitted images must not include matting or frame. 

Crop the photos to include only the artwork. Be sure your images are right-side-up.

-Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB. Images should be in JPEG format.

Presentation:

Selected entries must be framed and wired ready to hang, (no sawtooth hangers). Label the back of your artwork with your name, contact information, medium, title and price.

Accepted entries that do not conform to the above may be refused at the time of hanging.

Availability:

The artwork must be available throughout the entire exhibit. It is preferred that all works are for sale.

Notifications:

Artists will be notified via email on August 17. Artists whose work is accepted for this exhibit, will receive delivery instructions in this email. Artwork must be delivered to the Art House in person on September 3rd or 4th, between 12 and 6 p.m. We will not receive shipped work.

We will be offering various classes in the visual arts to children and adults. If you are interested in teaching please fill out this form and submit it to us for consideration. We do require that all teachers and instructors who teach for the Acworth Arts Alliance join as a Member Artist. (See Membership information above.) We will be in touch!
